Deck the Halls

A few easy ways to deck the halls in a classic, elegant way without going overboard (or over your budget!)

Hang a strand of garland over hall mirrors to add just the right touch of holiday cheer.
Click the link to make this Martha Stewart version, or for a less complicated version, pick up some fresh garland and dot with small bunches of holly & berries.

Simple ways to dress up a coffee table

Place pinecones around a set of plain white or shimmery bronze candles to create a festive look for your coffee table, a la Audrey Marie from one of my favorite blogs http://alovelyescape.blogspot.com/

Another great way to spice up a bare coffee table is with a jar of ornaments in a variety of colors and textures.  Try mixing a set of red ornaments in matte, shiny, and sparkly finishes all in a large glass jar, and a similar set of gold ornaments in a smaller jar next to it.  Play around with color, shape and texture of ornaments to find a combination that works well with the existing color palate of the room.

Want an even easier way to bring a little holiday cheer into your home?  Just fill a standard glass candle vase with a wide white candle and some cranberries.  Place these on any side table or coffee table, or even set up a group of them as the centerpiece on your dining room table to add a little color to the table setting.
